The chief priests and teachers of the law were seeking a way to kill Jesus. Satan entered into Judas Iscariot, one of Jesus’ twelve disciples, to betray Jesus. So Judas went to the leaders of the Jews and agreed to hand Jesus over to them for money.
Now it was time for the Passover celebration, and Jesus had sent his disciples to prepare the Passover meal. He said, “I have wanted so much to eat this Passover meal with you before I suffer. I will not eat it again until it has its fulfillment in the Kingdom of God. But one of you right here is going to betray me. The Son of Man will die as God has decided, but how terrible it will be for that man who betrays him!”
The disciples were upset and began to ask Him, “You don’t mean me, do you? Lord, who is it?” “It is one of the twelve, one who is dipping bread into the dish with me."
After they had eaten the Passover meal, Jesus took the bread, gave thanks, broke it, and gave it to the disciples. He said, “This is my body which is given for you. Do this to remember me.” In the same way, Jesus took the cup and said, “This is the New Covenant in my blood which is poured out for you for the forgiveness of sins.”
When they had shared the bread and the cup and after Judas had gone out, Jesus said, “All of you will fall away from me. But after I am resurrected, I will meet you in Galilee.” And the disciples were all very sad. After the Passover meal was finished, they sang a psalm. Then they left the city of Jerusalem and went out to a garden on the Mount of Olives together.
